Sled Dog Tours in Anchorage, Alaska

Alaskan Huskies are a hard-working breed with a wolf-like appearance. While several genetic studies have demonstrated that Alaskan Huskies share similar genes as Alaskan Malamute and Siberian Huskies, the Alaskan Husky is not recognized as a pure breed.

For most of their history, Alaskan Huskies have been working for humans. They were the Paleo-Eskimo people’s sled dogs. Besides pulling the sled, they also protected their owners. Fast forward to this day, and they can still be found doing the same thing! You can see them attending sports events, pulling sleds, and more throughout Alaska.

These Anchorage tours offer you a unique experience with -Alaskan Huskies- sled dogs that take you through a winter paradise, letting you feel the cold breeze on your face as you discover Anchorage’s snow-covered wilderness.

Salmon Berry Tours

Mush your Alaskan Huskies team through Talkeetna’s winter wonderland on this tour. Your adventure begins with free round-trip transportation provided from Anchorage to Talkeetna. You’ll enjoy the snowy winter roads and scenery while your driver-tour guide tells you stories and fun facts. Once in Talkeetna, you’ll get a training run at Dallas Seavey’s homestead. While creating a bond with your dog team, professional mushers will teach you how to handle your huskies. And, after newfound knowledge, training, and confidence, you’re ready to mush the trails.

Sleds are shared with two guests and a team of Alaskan Huskies ready for the 10 km mini-expedition. There will be a musher leading and guiding and a tail musher following while you’re sliding through the private, birch tree-lined trails. You’ll guide your dog team through the snow-capped quiet boreal forest until you cross the Finish Line into the kennel. This tour offers a hot beverage and a delicious lunch on Talkeetna’s Main Street for you to warm up. Complementary snacks and liquids are available throughout the tour.

Alaska Helicopter Tours (Dogsled & Helicopters Tour)

Partnered with Dallas Seavey’s AK Sled Dog Tours, this is a classic Alaskan adventure and the most popular tour! Drive your Iditarod-winning sled dog team in the middle of summer for amazing snow scenery. This lavishing adventure begins with a helicopter ride over glaciers and icebergs -you can peep moose, black bears, mountain goats, and Dall sheep-. After landing on a big glacier-high snowfield, you’ll get one hour to hang with the sled dogs and their mushers before hitting the snow. You can either stand on the runners and mush your dog team or sit on the sled and enjoy the ride.

After the tour, you’ll have time to play with your four-legged team, meet their puppies, take pictures and listen to stories the mushers have to offer. Then, the helicopter will take you back to the lodge, and you’ll get to fly over the lower glaciers. The tour provides overboots -so your shoes stay dry- and extra jackets and warm gear you can borrow if it gets too cold.
