Coffee Up in Anchorage

It’s no surprise that Alaska is home to some of the best hot (and frosted!) brews around, and visitors deserve a guide to getting the best cup of their lives. Start at Kaladi Brothers, a local chain featuring air-roasted beans and trendy atmospheres. There are six locations in Anchorage, and some serve light fare and snacks.

SteamDot Coffee is another popular pick, all in a laidback environment and also specializing in air-roasted beans. Espressos are divine here, and the baked goods are the perfect complement to however you like your java. It’s a popular pick for low-key business meetings, day dates and makeshift offices.

Get Your Caffeine Fix

Dark Horse Coffee Co. is a darling little café with outdoor seating (very possible in an Alaskan May!), where specialty brews, pastries, and mega homemade sandwiches are king. The little shop showcases home cooking, strong brews and a great spot for meeting with friends or colleagues.

Try Black Cup if you’re a true coffee connoisseur, and ask the barista for recommendations on beans from around the world. Customize your cup, but know that at this location you’re always encouraged to try it black. With the right beans and prep, it’s an entirely new experience.
