Aurora Fine Arts Gallery
Located in Anchorage’s historic downtown, Aurora Fine Arts Gallery is home to some of the most unique and elegant collections of native Alaskan art. The expert staff at this gallery guides visitors to the museum’s perfect quality pieces that add character and an incredible story piece to any space.
Aurora Fine Arts Gallery was created in 1990, and since then, it has been the epicenter of high-end Alaskan art for over 20 years. This gallery specializes in local Alaskan art. But, it also includes internationally known artists like Gail Niebrugge and Marilyn Miller. Aurora Fine Arts Gallery features Alaska Native well-recognized artists like The Tetpon Family and Suzie Silook.
“Aurora” means “New Beginning” in greek, which is precisely what this gallery stands for. With a passion for Alaskan art and its creators, owner Diane Louise set out to emphasize and empower the importance of having art pieces made by the community’s local artists. This is how Aurora Fine Arts Gallery began.
You can discover unique art at this gallery, such as the rare Byron Birdsall 80 stone lithographs, Robin McLane’s ceramic pieces, Ed Tussey and Donna Gates King’s Alaskan wildlife art, and Guitta Corey’s pastel originals selection. You can also browse through a vast collection of modern art pieces and, in contrast, Lester Newell’s Native masks. The Aurora Fine Arts Gallery is composed of 90% of Alaskan art.
On the corner of 5th Av and G street, Aurora Fine Arts Gallery is open all year round. The strategic location of this gallery allows it to be right at the hob of Anchorage’s various downtown events. The Aurora Fine Arts Gallery features events monthly, including the “First Friday” art show, artist work demonstration, and artists’ “meet and greets.”
