The Anchorage Museum is a private non-profit organization and Alaska’s largest museum. The Anchorage Museum displays the story of Alaska and the North, an intricate tale that weaves together social, cultural, political, historical, scientific, and artistic threads. This museum allows you to explore the different Alaska Native cultures diversity, including designs from the collection of the Smithsonian Institution and masterworks of Alaska Natives artfully.

The Art of the North galleries in the Anchorage Museum’s new wing showcases the museum’s art collection from American Art and international North perspectives. Sculpture, paintings, videos, photographs, and other media offered varied perceptions of the Northern landscape and wildlife through contemporary and historical depictions of both land and residents.

The new Alaska Exhibition tells Alaska’s story through multiple voices and perspectives, reflecting the technology, ingenuity, and intimate understanding of the unique landscape that has allowed residents to survive and thrive across the North. The exhibition has 13 themes reflecting essential aspects of life in Alaska today and throughout the state’s history. These themes reveal Alaska’s identity. Get to discover and explore Alaska and the Artic through science in the 11,000-square-foot Discovery Center, where you get introduced to Alaska and the Artic through interactive installations, technology, artwork, and more.

The American Alliance of Museums accredits the Anchorage Museum Store, and it receives support from the Anchorage Museum Foundation, the Municipality of Anchorage, and pirate, corporate, and foundation funds. The museum is also among the world’s ten best by Conde Nast Traveler. Atrium Cafe offers cold and hot beverages, sweet treats, and light and simple fare.
